HOSTS LOWELL and lyndi (lynda)

Lowell dreamed of retiring somewhere hot. Lyndi dreamed of providing a space where writers could explore Panama’s beautiful natural spaces and write in them.

As a tween, Lyndi walked miles to borrow books from the bookmobile and found quiet places to read them. Now she writes stories for young readers and adults. Her best ideas come to her as she walks the beach, bathes in the forests, and hikes in the mountains.

A retired high school teacher and community youth volunteer, Lyndi moved with her husband to Panama where she hosts writing workshops and retreats in nature and at Tranquilo Retreat.

While stargazing around a campfire, many children and teens shared the grief they carried. Lyndi was struck by how challenging it is to help youth who grieve and was inspired to write The Summer Triangle Trilogy and The Winter Hexagon Trilogy. Inspired by her students’ journals, Lyndi is now writing an adult psychological thriller.

Recently, Lowell and Lynda adopted their dog, Angel, who got a bumpy start in life. Now he’s becoming Tranquilo too.

Together Lynda and Lowell traded Berioskas (little birch) in the Pines (their home in Canada) for Cedar in the Palms (their home in Panama) where life happens slower, it’s hot, and they’re are excited to hike and write with you.

They’re learning to be tranquilo. Come be Tranquilo with too!

Tranquilo Retreat

Tranquilo Retreat is a lovely place to write, relax and rejuvenate. We welcome all guests, but particularly writers. Our spacious casita provides a home away and includes shared indoor/outdoor kitchen usage. Need a breather or a quiet space to write? Join in our writers’ workshops and tours. Then, relax in the jacuzzi, play in the pool, or chill in one of several outdoor spaces or at the beach.

Hike to a waterfall. Wriggle your toes in the sand. Once here, you’ll hate to leave. People describe our home as “gorgeous,” “heavenly,” or “like a resort.” We love our outdoor living and you will too.

Indoor Space

You have access to our fully stocked indoor kitchen and cozy living room. But we suspect you’d rather cook and hang out in our outdoor kitchen and bohio. We have a 2 piece bath off the living room which means you can stay inside. But why would you when you can live outdoors?

Outdoor Living

We step out our bedroom door onto our porch and live outside. You can read in a hammock, hang out and listen to your playlist, or mix a fresh fruit/vegetable smoothie. Our outdoor cooking space is stocked and ready for you to cook your favourite stir fry or barbecue succulent cuts of meat/fresh fish or vegetables. Food tastes better when feasting at our back-porch table.
